At the End of the WorldPosted by Nataly (Santa Monica, United States) on 16 March 2009 in Animal & Insect. Argentina, Patagonia, Ushuaia, Penguin Island Hello, everyone! I am back after my very tiring but magical trip to Argentina. I am so jet leg and keep falling a sleep all the time. Oh, no... this is not me, but seams like this little guy is a bit jet leg himself :) Or just tired of posing. My kid drove him crazy for about 15 min. trying to get as close as possible to him. And I was so impressed with this completely wild creature tolerating my child. I almost offered him a babysitting job. But unfortunately he is all the way in Patagonia in Ushuaia, at the end of the world, by the gate to Antarctica. And there was I, sticking my nose into his and all his friends` and family`s business. This sweet guy is Pupua family penguin. There are mostly Magelanos penguins in Patagonia, but since the year 2000 this guys started to migrate in the summer time. OK, I just dodn`t get it. They go back to Antarctica in the winter. Why would you go there when it`s -150* F ???? And leave when it gets warmer. Why not the other way around?? Oh, well, they got their own rules of their own game :-))
